The Sega Dreamcast had plenty of interesting and creative games on it. As someone who didn't have a Dreamcast growing up, I really feel like I missed out on some great games. To be fair to myself, though, I had a small window to join in on the fun.
A lot of the more prominent Sega Dreamcast games, like Sonic Adventure 2 and Shenmue, have made it off the console. But every generation leaves behind a few stragglers, and a few Dreamcast JRPGs missed out.
Sadly, out of the JRPGs that were left behind, a lot of them are plenty unique and fun to play. It's great evidence of just how special the Dreamcast's library was, but it's a crying shame that these games aren't more accessible. I could give a reason to recommend every game on this list, even if it's obtuse or expensive. Take this list and use it as your Dreamcast JRPG checklist, and if you have a chance to play any of them, please give them a try. They're worth your while.

If, by any chance, you know what this game is, you're already asking yourself "why is it on this list?" It's true; Evolution: The World of Sacred Device and its sequel, Evolution 2: Far Off Promise, made it off the Dreamcast. Both games were ported to the GameCube as Evolution Worlds in 2002. Again, if you happen to know what Evolution is, you might not think this matters too much. These Dreamcast JRPGs and their GameCube rerelease are quite famously, as the kids put it these days, pretty mid.
Still, if you want a colorful dungeon crawler JRPG, then Evolution scratches the itch, but the Dreamcast version is the way to go. For some reason, despite the GameCube version featuring both games, Evolution: The World of Sacred Device is only available in bits and pieces. Most of its dungeon crawling was ripped out in favor of cutscenes that now lack voice acting. Needless to say, if you ever want to try Evolution for a fun, simple time, the Dreamcast versions will always be the best ones on offer. Stick with them.
There are a number of video games that we either come together to consider unplayable, or games that are artistically strange yet phenomenal to play and experience. Never in my life have I seen a game more divisive than Seventh Cross: Evolution.
