Riot Games penalized nearly 300,000 accounts across League of Legends and VALORANT for rank manipulation. The next day, Trainwrecks said his LoL rank had been reverted.
The announcement followed the launch of LoL’s Anti-Boost system in 2025, which reached VALORANT this past July. Essentially, Vanguard was trained to flag accounts whose ranked progress had been siphoned from a better player rather than earned, and bans have been stacking ever since.
Riot Games confirmed on September 17 that 296,416 accounts have been penalized across both games since late 2025.

Not all of those are permanent bans, as depending on the offense, Riot can roll back rank, strip season rewards, or issue a temporary suspension starting at three days and scaling up for repeat offenders. Purchased accounts and accounts without a legitimate owner do face permanent removal, though. The company also confirmed the system isn’t at full capacity yet, with more enforcement on the way.
The behaviors that triggered penalties went well beyond handing an account to a hired booster masquerading as its rightful owner. Buying or borrowing an account to face weaker opponents qualified, as did giving a lower-ranked account to a skilled friend, or repeatedly queuing alongside players who deliberately tanked their rank to do the same thing.
Trainwrecks surfaced the day after Riot’s announcement to say his LoL rank had been reverted, and he attributed it to queuing with Tyler1, Trick2g, and Yassuo. “I just don’t understand how this is possible. We’re playing on Stream, we’re just playing to play” he said in his latest stream at around the 1:00:45 mark. “It’s not my fault they’re all pro League players.” He said he planned to contact Riot before going public with the dispute.
It wouldn’t be his first conversation of this kind. Trainwrecks picked up a 31-day VALORANT ban for queuing with sinatraa and other high-rank players back in May, where a Riot developer later clarified that actual smurf accounts were in the lobby, a detail that changed the picture considerably.
