World of Warcraft: Forever players claim to have been sent a survey asking whether they'd be interested in a variety of new classes for the upcoming MMO - and some of them are very interesting.
Over the past few days, a select few users of Blizzard's Battle.net launcher spotted an opt-in survey. While Blizzard requested participants not share details of this survey, screenshots and information have nevertheless leaked online. As a result, popular World of Warcraft YouTubers such as Belluar have covered its contents.
Eurogamer cannot verify the accuracy of the survey information out in the wild, but if what's out there is accurate, it hints towards some intriguing new World of Warcraft class ideas. According to users on the Classic WoW Reddit, the surveyed classes are:
The classes that appear to have been polled in this survey can be split between wholly new ideas, or spins on established classes from modern World of Warcraft. Some examples of those refreshed classes include Death Knights, Demon Hunters, and Monks. But these would likely have significantly different playstyles given the significant differences between modern WoW and WoW: Forever.
For example, per alleged survey information on the Demon Hunter, the class would be far slower and less mobile than its World of Warcraft: Legion counterpart. Likewise, these demon hunters would not be members of Illidan's faction of demon hunters we've grown to love; rather a smaller pre-existing faction out somewhere in Azeroth, separate from his shirtless edginess.
As for those newer class ideas, there are some real winners here. The Tinker is one such example, with roots in the Warcraft RTS series from yesteryear. Per the survey details leaked online, the Tinker pilots a mech suit to fit your playstyle, able to tank hits, unleash big damage, or act in a supporting role. Also, this proposed class would have two lives: the mech and the pilot within (a bit like D.Va in Overwatch). Alternatively you have the San'layn, which are vampiric knights in full plate armour, who suck the vitality from foes and excel in melee combat.
Whether Blizzard actually ends up implementing any or all of these remains to be seen, but this would mark a major new avenue of expanding the Classic World of Warcraft setting without venturing back into expansions like The Burning Crusade or Wrath of the Lich King.
