Ubisoft has announced Rainbow Six Tactics, an upcoming single-player turn-based tactics game featuring familiar Rainbow Six Siege Operators. Revealed at Gamescom's Opening Night Live showcase, and is due out in 2027 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It's the first single-player game in the franchise since Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2008.
And speaking of Rainbow Six Vegas, you play as Vegas protagonist Paul "Six" Bishop in Tactics, who will command the Operators from afar. Tactics will feature 15 fan-favorite Operators from Siege, including Sledge and Ash, and it's packing 47 total handcrafted maps along with 90 minutes of cutscenes to support the narrative. It's set during the collapse of Rainbow between Siege's 10th and 11th years. Development is being led by Ubisoft Paris, makers of fellow tactics game Mario + Rabbids as well as the last several Ghost Recon games (speaking of which, it's high-time for a new Ghost Recon game if you ask me!). Ubisoft also told IGN that there is no in-game store and no monetizations.
Rainbow Six Tactics includes a breach planning feature – which might trigger a memory for fans of the original Rainbow Six on PC from back in 1998 – allowing you to plan and execute synchronized assaults with your Operators. Check back later today for our exclusive interview with R6 Tactics game director Martial Potron.
