One Piece Creator Oda Teases The Hidden Haki Of Straw Hat Pirates

The Straw Hat Pirates were confirmed as a Yonko crew in One Piece chapter 1053, which was officially released on June 20, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #29. Having ascended to the rank of a Yonko crew meant that the Straw Hat Pirates were due a couple of major power-ups, with the most important of them all being Haki.

So far, the Straw Hats have five Haki users: the Captain, Luffy; the two Wings, Zoro and Sanji; Jinbe; and finally Usopp. In the case of Usopp, however, this Haki is limited only to the Color of Observation, which only activates on certain occasions. Now, in the final saga of One Piece, particularly in the climax of the Elbaf arc, which is currently ongoing, Eiichiro Oda has teased the hidden Haki of the various members of the Straw Hat crew that they must master in the last stretch in order to truly make Luffy the Pirate King, starting with none other than Usopp himself.

On September 6, 2026, One Piece Chapter 1192 was officially released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #41. This chapter was spectacular for the character of Usopp. For years, we have been waiting for more characterization of Usopp's character in the Elbaf arc, and finally, Eiichiro Oda delivered. While Usopp did not get any big battle moments, the speech he gave to Gaban in favor of Luffy certainly added a lot to his character and made for a compelling moment in his overarching arc. To that end, Eiichiro Oda also showcased to us yet another character worthy of carrying the color of the Supreme King.

"He has plenty of reasons to fight! Two years ago, at Little Garden, our way forward was opened up for us by Dorry and Brogy! At Enies Lobby, our quest to save our friend was assisted by Oimo and Kashi! And Hajrudin and his men are my henchmen. So far, Usopp has already shown his improved Color of Observation in Elbaf in Chapter 1188, which was released on July 13, 2026. His Haki has been on display actively ever since, and now, with his speech in favor of Luffy in the climax of the Elbaf arc, Eiichiro Oda has shown why Usopp deserves the Color of the Supreme King as well. Usopp holding the hidden potential to wield the Color of the Supreme King should not come as a surprise to any fan. This is because he wants to become a great warrior like the Giants and, most importantly, has previously spoken about his own hidden potential for Supreme King Haki as well.
