gamescom 2026 Silver Palace Preview: The Next Big Action Gacha

gamescom 2026 Silver Palace Preview: The Next Big Action Gacha

The anime-style live service gacha market is in full swing. It really blew up thanks to Genshin Impact, but it would eventually churn out games such as Arknights: Endfield, Zenless Zone Zero and Wuthering Waves. All have their dedicated fanbase, but another studio is looking to get in on the action.

The Chinese-based studio, Silver Studio, has been working on a stylish and highly combat-focused action game. They are looking to put all the games before it to shame, and based on what we were able to play at Gamescom this year, they might be onto something. With a beautiful setting and incredibly diverse action, Silver Palace is shaping up to be the next big free-to-play game.

The core gameplay cycles around up to four different characters at once. Players will be swapping between the four characters on the fly as the encounter best suits them, with each having their own traits, advantages and visual flair. Each character will have a melee, ranged and special attacks, along with a unique execution.

Playing the main character feels very satisfying. Normally, they are made pretty simplistic and the other characters will be the main attraction, which will likely still be the case the further we get in the patch cycles, but Detective Munin is fast and highly engaging. She wields a slashing sword and a pistol and would get high style marks if this were Devil May Cry.

The other three characters we were able to play were Red Rose, Rex and Cinderella, and each had drastically different playstyles. For example, Red Rose’s ranged weapon has more crowd control, having a larger spread while she uses her dress as a melee weapon. We do think her execution skill was the weakest of the bunch, though, primarily being a dropkick.

Cinderella was probably the most appealing in terms of visual flair, as her fiery slashes lead to a spinning chariot of doom special ability. That’s on top of her execution being just asserting her dominance and stepping on her opponent. Unfortunately, her ranged weapon feels the least exciting as it’s a quick burst rifle with very little fluidity to it. It felt out of the ordinary given the rest of her kit.

Finally, Rex is arguably the most stylish of the four. Dressed to impress, this soldier comes with two truncheons and two dogs, both of which contribute greatly to battle. He’s fast-paced and, unlike the other characters, uses his primary weapons as ranged weapons, forfeiting his gun ownership. He’s probably the best close quarter combat character we played, and one of our favorites in terms of speed.

Through the demo, we were able to access three distinct areas. The first was early on in the story, or at least that’s presumed, given there was a tutorial on the basics of combat, but it involved some rather obscure story moments. And being a gacha game, it started off with the characters starting off in a giant flying whale.
