Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin's Creed Rebellion is shutting down in January 2027 after more than eight years. Following the closure of Ubisoft Halifax earlier this year, the publisher has decided to completely shut down Assassin's Creed Rebellion, with a server closure date now set.
Assassin's Creed Rebellion is a strategy RPG developed exclusively for mobile. The game brings back movie protagonist Aguilar de Nerha alongside popular Assassin's Creed game characters like Ezio Auditore, Claudia Auditore, and Shao Jun, tying them together with a fun, cartoony art style. Players can level up their own brotherhood, send out teams of assassins on infiltration missions, and complete limited-time events to earn additional rewards.
Since Ubisoft Halifax closed, a small team in Paris has continued development on Assassin's Creed Rebellion. Now, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that support for the game is ending. It has already been removed from app stores, so new players can no longer download the game. Furthermore, the Assassin's Creed Rebellion servers are shutting down on January 12, 2027, just over eight years after the game was originally released. After this, not only will the game become unplayable, but Ubisoft says that "all personal data related to the game will be deleted from our databases."
Ubisoft says its customer service team will remain available to answer players' questions, "including those related to potential refunds." The company acknowledges player disappointment over this latest delisted game, and says that existing players will receive 1 million Helix Credits upon login between now and Assassin's Creed Rebellion's shutdown date, so players can "continue exploring the parts of the game you enjoy most before the servers close."

That Assassin's Creed Rebellion will soon become completely unplayable is very sad news for fans. Even if it's not the most popular Assassin's Creed game, it's still a part of the series' history. Losing one of Ezio's few appearances for good is especially sad, given his popularity with the fanbase. It's becoming the increasing reality of the live-service era, where games are completely removed rather than preserved in any way.
After the successful launch of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced earlier this year, fans are eagerly awaiting Ubisoft's next update on the series' future. The company has teased Assassin's Creed Hexe a few times already, and it's widely expected to be the next mainline release in the series.
