Armaments are your trusty tools in Onimusha: Way Of The Sword. While not necessary, these gadgets can often save your Samurai hide and, if you use them right, they can help make short work of some tough enemies. We had a lot of fun using and experimenting with armaments, and they definitely spiced up the combat a fair bit.
With that said, most of these armaments are, technically, missable. Don't worry, you can still go back and get them. Most of these you get during the main story, but just in case you missed one, here's our guide to help you get them.
Unmissable. This is the first armament you get in the game and with it, you learn how to build up the armament bar. The Two Celestials is essentially just a strong attack that's over before you know it. Quite honestly, we never used this one as soon as we got a better armament, and we assume you probably won't either. Still, if you need an armament that can heal you (because of the yellow souls), this might come in handy.
Unmissable. Pretty early in the story, Takamura will show you the training grounds and award you with the Wind Whipper as soon as you clear the first drill (the one where you learn how to deflect).
Unlike the Two Celestials, we used the Wind Whipper occasionally. While the damage isn't great, this can be quite handy when you are surrounded by a bunch of weaker enemies that you can't be bothered dealing with. Even better, if there is a fire source around you, use the Wind Whipper and suddenly there is a firestorm that will also burn your enemies.
Pretty hard to miss. During the Underground Laboratory section (the part of the game that feels like Resident Evil), and shortly after the Mask Puzzle section, you'll be in a circular room where the giant spinning fan slowly descends from the ceiling to slice you. After you deal with the fan, in the very next room, there is a chest with the Earth Shakers.
These were our absolute favorite armament during the entire game. They don't do damage to the enemy's health, but they absolutely destroy their stamina. We even used this one in the final boss fight.
Pretty hard to miss. When you start the Shadows Fall quest you'll have to close two Genma rifts. One is on the west side and the other is on the very bottom (south) of Eastern Kyoto. Once you drain the Genma rift in the south section, a Genma gate will disappear which guards a chest with the Firebird Flute, so just grab it.
