Aniimo is already a cute little creature-collecting adventure, but naturally, everything is more fun when you can drag your friends into it. There are a few multiplayer quirks worth knowing before you start inviting everyone on your friends list, especially when it comes to shared activities, progression, and keeping track of who is actually getting credit for what.
Thankfully, Aniimo makes teaming up pretty simple once you know where everything is. Here is everything you need to know about playing with friends and what to expect from multiplayer.
Aniimo lets you explore its world with friends, and joining another player's world is fairly straightforward.
Once your friend accepts an invite, they will appear in your world and can explore alongside you. You can interact with each other using the friend tree, which lets you build affinity through daily interactions, chat, gestures, and visiting each other's homes. Increasing your affinity also unlocks new emotes and rewards.
Companion Mode lets one player become the leader while the other becomes the follower. Once connected, the follower automatically travels alongside the leader, which makes it much easier to stick together while exploring.
You can deactivate Companion Mode by pressing T on PC, with the required button also displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
While playing together, both players can catch Aniimo and open treasure chests as long as they are close enough to each other. Shared treasure chests count for both players, so you do not have to worry about your friend missing out while exploring. However, certain collectible challenge items, including Lumin Ambers, do not count for the other player.
Yes, you can team up to fight Alpha Aniimo. This can be particularly useful when one player is less powerful, since both players can contribute to the fight. After defeating an Alpha, both players get their own opportunity to catch it. Each player still needs the required Animopod and Electricity, and your individual catch chance can differ.
