Being an Xbox fan these days isn't too far off from being on a rollercoaster, with constant ups and downs of exciting announcements and brutal layoff decisions affecting numerous studios. While public perception is still understandably mixed on the company as a whole, the gaming platform is getting a universal upgrade that fans have been eagerly awaiting for decades.
After initially being leaked earlier in September, Xbox has officially announced on X that Mythic Achievements are in fact coming to all Xbox accounts, starting with Xbox Insider players.
Launching alongside Xbox's massive new title, the $400M-costing Gears of War: E-Day, A Mythic Achievement will be offered for anyone who manages to complete 100 percent of a game's currently available achievements. Acting functionally similar to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies, you'll be able to view the total number of Mythic Achievements under the new Gaming section of your user profile.
Under the new section, you can view your total Gamerscore, Milestone Badges, and view all the games you've recently unlocked achievements for, and all 100 percent games, which will have a shiny new frame around them to differentiate from the rest at a glance.
Mythic Achievements aren't just for celebration either, as alongside the update, Xbox players will be able to view more detailed information regarding which achievements are currently in progress or closest to completion. Finally, Xbox is also addressing DLC achievements, which will be tagged separately as an "add-on," which won't be required to unlock the Mythic status.
Although Mythic Achievement testing period coincides with the release of Gears of War: E-Day, the program will also retroactively apply to all older games that you've already 100 percent completed, allowing you to reap the rewards without starting all over from new titles only.
Despite the excitement, there is no word on when exactly Mythic Achievements will be coming for all players on the platform, as the program is first starting out in a testing period for Xbox Insiders. While just about anyone can join the Xbox Insider program, it does require jumping through a few hoops to get set up in case you would rather just wait for the universal update to go live instead.
