GTA 6 Leaked Map Wasn't Accurate, Collector's Edition Suggests

The physical map included in the controversial Grand Theft Auto 6 collector’s edition has everyone discussing whether it proves the leaked version wasn’t final.

Yesterday, after hours of speculation and leaks, Rockstar officially revealed the Goodtime State - Vice City Collection for GTA 6, which is the closest thing we have to a collector’s edition. The merch box has been pretty divisive since it was announced, mostly because of the $400 price point for something that doesn’t even include the game.

That being said, the collector’s edition does have some interesting items in it, chief among them being a stylised physical map of Leonida. Even though Rockstar purposefully only showed a very small corner of the map, that glimpse might have been enough to suggest that the previously leaked map isn’t entirely accurate.

During Cyberleek’s massive wave of GTA 6 leaks a little over a month ago, one of the earliest things the hacker group shared was a close look at the game’s full map. Considering how secretive Rockstar has been about showing how big Leonida actually is, the leak was a pretty damning one, especially since it lined up with the community mapping project.

As pointed out by Redditor Babek_Reverof on the GTA 6 subreddit, the version of the map included in the Vice City Collection has a rather interesting detail that might suggest the leaked map wasn’t final. By overlaying Cyberleek’s map with the physical one, you can see a single small island right at the top that wasn’t in the leaked version.

Curiously, Rockstar also changed the image of the physical map to remove some labels that were included on it. If nothing else, it suggests it might have shown too much.

It’s a very, very small detail in the grand scheme of things, but it’s enough to make some think the leaked version doesn’t represent the final game. The prevailing argument against this is that the physical map is clearly stylised to look like a cartoon, which might suggest it’s not trying to be one-to-one with the game version.

Redditor Etchbath also pointed out that members on GTAForums aren’t totally convinced by the theory, especially since the leaked map height data matched Cyberleek’s version. It looks like we’re just going to have to wait for Rockstar to release the full thing, but it might be worth taking the leaked map with a grain of salt.
