The assault class in Wardogs is all about pushing ahead and claiming zone control. The class comes with the best weapons to deter enemies and score kills, which is exactly why it's so popular.
Of course, obtaining all these weapons is tied to your progression as an assault player. So, you already need to earn XP with the low-level assault rifles to unlock the new ones. So, I've put together three builds for three progression levels in the assault class to help you get the best results, no matter how far along you are.
As soon as you hit Level 3, the AK74 will become available as your best choice for an assault rifle. Reaching Level 3 isn't a big deal with the starter weapons, and you don't even have many attachments unlocked earlier in the game. So, you just have to make do with those starter rifles to hit Level 3 eventually.
AK74 is a great all-rounder weapon. You can just modify it even more as you make progress without changing the weapon. Of course, it deals less damage compared to the Galil and FAL, but the fire rate is good, and with some high-tier attachments you can dramatically decrease its recoil.
The attachments offered above are all unlocked until around Wardogs Level 30 and Assault Level 5. So, it is indeed an approachable low-level loadout. With these attachments, you will already feel how much the recoil has been eased out.
AK74 deals 61 head damage and 28 torso damage with standard bullets. Flesh bullets deal 122 head damage and 52 torso damage, but only when the target wears no armor, which is mostly not the case. The armor-penetrating bullets deal 48 head damage and 23 torso damage. This is less than all the other bullet types, but the advantage is that a very small fraction of it will be absorbed by the target's armor.
Assault players barely need a secondary weapon, and at this level, you don't really have to spend your cash on a pistol that you will probably never use.
For the special slot, I recommend binoculars. This is a great tool to observe the locations you want to move to before attempting. The weapon's 2.5x scope is good, but the binoculars will help you a lot with locating enemy soldiers and realizing where they are pushing from. This information will also help your squad significantly.
