Sony has revealed the games coming this month to PlayStation Plus, which are available to everyone from 6th October.
Here's October's PS Plus monthly list:
October's highlight is Crytek's superbly tense and atmospheric co-operative and competitive extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896, which we Recommended back in 2021 (it was so long ago we used a different scoring system). However, console versions didn't arrive until late in 2024, and there was a 2.0 overhaul last summer, so the experience itself should be fresh enough.
"If Hunt: Showdown's unusual - and, as it turns out, fantastically exhilarating and engrossing - mixture of inspirations has a single guiding principle, it's that predators become prey," wrote Edwin in his Hunt: Showdown review. "It's a game in which stepping on a twig while chasing a zombie can get you shot from a hundred yards off, and the time-honoured ceremony of a bossfight offers zero defence against the player lobbing dynamite through a window."
The other games coming to PlayStation Plus in October are racing game F1 25, which we didn't review - where's Martin when you need some racing game knowledge? - and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, a voxel EDF spin-off with split-screen co-op, that sounds like it might be fun for an afternoon knockabout.
As always, their arrival means you have until 5th October to add last month's games (see September's PlayStation Plus games) to your library.
