Pikmin 4 is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with voice controls and new challenge content.
Announced during a Nintendo Direct on Wednesday, Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will release on November 12 both physically and digitally, with owners of the original game able to purchase an upgrade.
“The Pikmin adventure returns with new Nintendo Switch 2 features and challenges,” reads an announcement. “Direct your pup companion Oatchi with voice commands using the system’s built-in microphone and give him some well-earned praise.
“A new Dandori Academy mode lets you test your skills by collecting treasure as quickly as possible across a variety of stages, with exams every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, online leaderboards3, medals to earn and three difficulty levels to master. 72 Dandori Academy stages will be released over time.”
Pikmin 4, released for Nintendo Switch in 2023, is the best-selling game in the Pikmin series, outselling its predecessors in a little more than two months.
Last year, Nintendo released a surprise new update for the game, adding new features such as a Photo Mode and special Decor Pikmin to find.
VGC’s Pikmin 4 review calls the game “a brilliant entry point for new players”, saying: “Pikmin 4 is a smart and content-packed refinement of one of Nintendo’s most underrated series, but long-time fans may be put off by how long its generous campaign takes to get going.”
