The launch of the James Bond game developed by Hitman studio IO Interactive brought a markedly different take on the iconic agent. 007: First Light follows Bond in his early days as a secret agent with MI6, taking players through his training and first missions for the British Secret Intelligence Service. The game featured new takes on many of the James Bond franchise's most iconic characters, featuring younger versions of M, Q, and Miss Moneypenny, and saw significant success at launch, selling 1.5 million copies within a day of its release. Now, fans of 007: First Light are getting even more secret agent intrigue with new DLC on the way.
IO Interactive officially confirmed 007: First Light will receive a new DLC update launching soon. The teaser trailer featured a wide cinematic shot of an idyllic forest lake, with a sweeping mountain range in the background. IO Interactive did not share many details in the post about what the DLC will contain, nor whether 007: First Light will receive any new story content as part of the update. The post did reveal that the new DLC will be free to download, with previous leaks suggesting that the new content may focus on driving and the Aston Martin Valhalla. IO Interactive announced it will be sharing more information about 007: First Light's new free DLC on October 1.
The newest DLC content for 007: First Light is not the first major free update for the game. IO Interactive launched the Behind Enemy Lines update for 007: First Light in July with a wealth of new content, including new TacSim missions, multiple weapons, and even a new TacSim outfit for Bond. IO Interactive has also confirmed that a New Game+ mode will be added to 007: First Light later in the year, though the studio has not confirmed how the game mode will function following its release.

While 007: First Light is gearing up to debut new DLC, fans are still waiting to play on one specific platform. IO Interactive recently confirmed another sizable delay for the Switch 2 version of 007: First Light, pushing it back from its previous Q3 2026 release date to March 2027. The studio shared that the major deciding factor in the newest delay was in order to further optimize the game to run smoothly on the Nintendo platform. The delay has seen many fans request that IO Interactive release the game with a proper physical Switch 2 version, rather than the console's game key cards.
The success of 007: First Light has led many fans to ask about what's next from the series. Though IO Interactive has not confirmed a sequel to the James Bond game, Amazon Gaming executive Jeff Gattis was extremely positive about the game, saying that it "seems like a sequel should be made."
