ARC Raiders releases Update 1.45, a patch that Embark calls the final live service update before the major Frozen Trail content arrives in October. While the patch adds new content into the game, including the Hornet Hunter cosmetic set, it also sets up the next phase of the recent ARC Raiders quest line with Shani, pointing players to Embark's upcoming massive mountainous map launching in October as part of the Frozen Trail update.
Despite an incredible launch window and following few months, ARC Raiders seemingly finds itself in a tougher situation with its player population much lower than it was previously. Part of the reason can be attributed to Embark's announcement ending monthly updates for ARC Raiders, a path which was largely unsustainable for the development team even though the community enjoyed that release cadence. Instead, Embark activated a live team to keep the game moving with limited time events and smaller updates, while a core group would develop larger updates set to launch twice per year. With Frozen Trail set to arrive next month, Embark has launched the final live service patch ahead of the new content.
In this latest update, Shani's storyline from past live service quests have brought players to the far north, where Frozen Trail is set to begin. In terms of new content, Update 1.45 adds a new Raider Project called Ascending the Mountain into ARC Raiders. The name is a clear reference to the upcoming Frozen Trail update and will be available until October 5. The project is a way for the game's narrative to justify how Raiders are able to enter the previously inaccessible zone, as the tube lines players use to get around currently don't reach there. Similar to previous projects, players can complete 4 pages worth of items to donate in exchange for various rewards. Rewards include weapons like the Burletta pistol, attachments, Wolfpack grenades, blueprints, and more.
One thing that isn't being given out in this Raider Project are Creds, a resource which can be used to purchase items from Shani or utilized in unlocking reward tiles in Raider Decks. As it turns out, Embark is planning to sunset the resource once the Frozen Trail update launches on October 8 and ultimately replacing the system entirely with something more expansive. Players have until October 8 to use their remaining Creds and any rewards unlocked will remain usable, though after the update, the Creds will be removed entirely. Thankfully, all Raider Decks will be moved to the new system, so players can continue unlocking items beyond the Cred expiration date.

There's still a ton of details that Embark hasn't yet shared about the upcoming Frozen Trail update, though with the launch less than a month away, news should be coming shortly. Embark is hoping to bring lapsed players back with this update, as the studio previously shared that it will include the largest map ARC Raiders has seen to date, taking place in the far north inside a snowy mountain range with plenty of facilities to explore as well. However, a new map isn't the only element in this update, as Embark teased new ARC enemies to battle, a challenging ARC operation activity, as well as a whole new progression system.
One element that fans won't have access to once Frozen Trail arrives is the game's expedition system. Essentially serving as an optional wipe that is typically required of extraction shooter players, Embark recently paused the expedition mechanic in ARC Raiders, citing player feedback and a desire to make larger improvements as the main reasons. The system will return sometime in 2027 with Embark hinting at making it more accessible for new players, addressing the tight timelines, and improving the overall rewards of participating in it.
