What do you do if you've got a GTA-inspired game set to release around the same time as GTA 6? You schedule it for the day before, of course! That's exactly what's happening in the case of Vice: Magic City Mayhem.
This game is officially coming to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 18th, 2026 - a day before the release of GTA 6 on November 19th. As you can see, Vice: Magic City Mayhem goes all-in on the same style of artwork as the Rockstar Games epic, but the game itself couldn't really be more different.
Instead, Vice: Magic City Mayhem is described as a "top-down 8-bit retro action/adventure game inspired by Zelda with a Vice City theme". It essentially seems like what you'd get if you took old-school Zelda and combined it with Vice City.
Step into the shoes of Dutch, one of Magic City’s most feared enforcers, on a thrilling and dangerous quest to rescue your one true love, Sophie. Navigate through the chaos of wild nightclubs, scenic beaches, and raptor-infested yachts in this raunchy, high-stakes adventure.
In Vice: Magic City Mayhem, we blend the best of both worlds—drawing inspiration from the immersive exploration, intense combat, and mind-bending puzzles of Zelda, alongside the outrageous storylines, vibrant world-building, and dark humor of Vice City.
What's particularly interesting about this is that it started life as a Kickstarter project last year, securing $13,278 worth of funding alongside a $10,000 goal. Some of the developers working on the project have worked at the likes of EA and Telltale Games as well, so there's every chance it's going to be worth picking up.
Let's see how it goes, eh? We just admire the bravery of releasing right next to GTA 6 in November with a game that seems similar but actually offers something very different, and here's hoping that bold bet will ultimately pay off.
If you're interested, Vice: Magic City Mayhem is available to pre-order on the Xbox Store for £12.49 / $14.99.
