Developer Cold Iron Studios has announced that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 for the Switch 2 has been delayed into early 2027.
As covered by IGN, the team believes that the extra time in the oven will allow it to deliver "the best possible version for the hardware". No specific date has been provided, but 'early 2027' suggests we'll probably see it at some point between January and March. The original release date was set for 29th September 2026.
"After careful consideration, we now plan to release it natively on Switch 2 in early 2027. This extra time will help the team deliver the best possible version for the hardware. Thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, the team at Cold Iron remains aggressively focused on tuning Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 to be the best possible experience for every player."
Early reception to the game has been mixed, with our pals over at Push Square awarding it 4/10 in their review.

"Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is a massive letdown of a sequel. At times it teeters on the so-bad-it's-good territory, with references for fans of the series and some admittedly decent customisation. But it does little to amplify what's at its core: a half-arsed co-op tie-in that, bafflingly, lacks any of the charm that the first game had."
