GTA 6 PS5 Controllers Are Somehow Affordable Despite Scalpers

Despite being out of stock nearly everywhere, Grand Theft Auto 6’s limited edition PS5 controllers aren’t being scalped for anywhere near as expensive as you might think.

Last week’s State of Play had some cool announcements, but I don’t think I’m alone in saying that one of the highlights was the reveal of limited edition GTA 6 controllers. The snazzy DualSense comes in two variants, White and Black, and is fittingly themed around Vice City, with palm tree motifs moulded into the controller.

Considering GTA 6 is the biggest game of all time, it was pretty obvious that getting your hands on the controller when pre-orders opened yesterday was going to be stressful. While the process was a bit of a pain, especially if you wanted the PlayStation Direct exclusive Black variant, scalpers surprisingly aren’t being as unfair in the aftermath as usual.

As soon as I saw the hour-long queue for the Black GTA 6 DualSense and failed to get one myself after waiting that long, I knew that I’d have to check out how much it was being resold for on eBay. To my surprise, the resold prices aren’t actually that bad, at least when you consider that it’s a limited accessory for such a highly anticipated game.

Taking a look at eBay shows that the Black DualSense is going for between $145 and $200. The highest listing I found was asking for $231, which, while still nearly three times the original price, is nowhere near as bad as I expected it to get. There are quite a lot of listings for the Black DualSense too, so it doesn’t appear to be too limited.

The same goes for the White DualSense. Despite being sold out nearly everywhere I checked, there are plenty of listings on eBay for it, ranging from $130 to $170. Again, it’s still much more than it’s supposed to cost, but considering the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 is being resold for close to $2,000, you can’t blame me for thinking it’d be much worse.

For context, both the White and Black GTA 6 DualSense had an RRP of $84.99.

All of this is to say that if you didn’t manage to get your hands on a GTA 6 PS5 controller during the pre-order window, you’re not actually that out of luck. Sure, giving in to scalpers is the worst and it’s more expensive than it should be, but it’s not as bad as it could have been.
