Fans of DC's premiere superhero fighting franchise Injustice have a brand-new release to look forward to on September 23. The Injustice franchise has been relatively quiet over the past decade since Injustice 2 was released, with one major exception. Now, Injustice is seemingly poised to make a huge comeback in the near future, and it starts with a surprise release starring a fan-favorite DC character.
Amid rumors of an incoming Injustice 3 announcement, NetherRealms and Warner Bros. are giving fans another reason to get invested back in the franchise. At this point, Injustice 3 is DC's worst-kept secret, after a leak earlier this year revealed that playtesting for Injustice 3 had begun. While fans wait for an official Injustice 3 announcement, Injustice 2 Mobile is quietly rolling along with new playable characters, including a new Green Lantern joining the roster on September 23.
Officially announced by the Injustice 2 Mobile Twitter account, Green Lantern Guy Gardner is the next hero coming to the mobile version of Injustice 2. Players will be able to access Guy Gardner on September 23, giving Injustice 2 Mobile its fourth Green Lantern. Guy Gardner's Injustice 2 Mobile moveset has not been revealed, but players can expect a unique playstyle compared to the other Green Lanterns in the game. The addition of Guy Gardner to Injustice 2 Mobile's lineup of playable characters comes in collaboration with DC's Lanterns series on HBO Max. In the TV series, Hal Jordan recruits John Stewart to help investigate an intergalactic murder in Rushville, Nebraska, setting the stage for a wider conflict among the different Lantern Corps. In the most recent episode, Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner from 2025's Superman makes an appearance, and the version of Gardner in Injustice 2 Mobile is based on this design.

Despite being a mobile game, Injustice 2 Mobile has far exceeded the content offered by the console versions of NetherRealm's 2017 game, with a far bigger roster and more variants of popular DC characters. Hal Jordan appears as one of the major antagonists in Injustice 2, and John Stewart makes a cameo as a different skin option for Green Lantern players to choose from. However, Guy Gardner doesn't appear in the game at all, making this release his first appearance in the Injustice franchise.
As for Injustice 3, it's unclear which DC characters will make the cut, especially considering the massive roster that Injustice 2 Mobile boasts. However, two characters for Injustice 3 were recently leaked: Batwoman and Supergirl. While Supergirl has appeared in the core Injustice games previously, Batwoman has only been featured in Injustice 2 Mobile, making Injustice 3 potentially her console debut for the series. Based on these leaks, it's unclear if Supergirl will sport Milly Alcock's design from the 2026 movie or if she will adopt a brand-new look. In the meantime, if DCU fans want more of the characters from the recent TV series and movies, Injustice 2 Mobile is the game for them.
