Dragon Eggs are the key summoning materials needed to begin the fight against Moder, the Mountain biome boss in Valheim. These are rightfully found in small nests scattered across all the various mountain regions, and while they're fairly common, they can be a little hard to find depending on your world seed. In this Valheim guide, we'll be sharing with you some tips on how to easily find Dragon Eggs as well as the best ways to carry them around.
Dragon Eggs are big and have a sinister purple glow, making them very easy to spot during the night. If you're having trouble finding some, wait until the moon is out, then climb the highest peak of the mountain you're on. Look around, and you should be able to spot some glowing eggs nearby.
Usually, mountain biomes that are big enough to have Moder's summoning circle on them tend to have enough Dragon Eggs for summoning the boss. However, there have been times when I needed to visit multiple mountains to get all three Dragon Eggs.
Dragon Eggs are normally guarded by three Drakes. If you see a pack of three of these creatures, then there's probably an egg nearby.
Unlike the summoning materials for the previous Valheim bosses, Dragon Eggs weigh a whopping 200 units, which means you won't be able to carry more than one with your default inventory limitations. These can't be transported via portals either, so unless you want to use cheats or modify your world settings, you'll have no other choice but to do the following:
Lugging a cart around will slow you down, and the uneven terrain on mountain biomes will make things harder than they should be. Here, I like to pull carts while flattening the ground with a hoe to reduce the number of steep angles I need to run over. If the mountain you're on doesn't have enough Dragon Eggs, then you'll have to find another mountain and carry the eggs over using a boat.
You can buy the Meginjord belt from Haldor, the merchant found in Black Forest biomes. Equipping Megingjord gives you 150 additional Carry Weight, which is enough to let you lift two Dragon Eggs instead of just one. This belt costs 950 Coins, and if you don't have enough money, raid crypts and farm Trolls in Black Forests. You can also try using Love Potions to increase the spawn rate of Trolls and farm gold coins from them.
Summoning Moder is the sole purpose of Dragon Eggs in Valheim. Unfortunately, you can't hatch them to get your own pet dragon, and you can't cook them either. If you do want to make a consumable that uses Dragon Eggs to some degree, visit the Bog Witch in one of your world's swamps, then buy some Powdered Dragon Eggshells — these are needed to craft Meads of Troll Endurance, which give you +250 Carry Weight for 300 seconds.
