My Hero Academia is a beloved Manga by Kohei Horikoshi that met its unfortunate end in 2024. After a decade-long run in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, Horikoshi wrapped up the story in 2025, and a year later, the anime followed suit with the conclusion of My Hero Academia Season 8. While it may seem like My Hero Academia is dead as a franchise, it's clear the IP will not be put to rest anytime soon.
My Hero Academia is still a series with massive potential, and its popularity gives Shueisha a big incentive to keep going. On September 24, 2026, it was officially confirmed that My Hero Academia is making a comeback to Jump Festa 2027, and that it will reveal major announcements at the Super Stage. We are all excited about the possible future of our favorite superhero story, especially as this event is increasingly likely to lead to a full revival of My Hero Academia, with new and exciting projects on the way.
My Hero Academia first debuted in 2014 in the popular magazine by Shueisha, called Weekly Shonen Jump. Immediately upon its debut, the series garnered a lot of traction from fans all over the world. Its story revolving around superheroes and quirks in a high school setting, quickly caught on and led to it being picked up by a studio as good as Bones, which helped the series grow bigger with a stunning anime adaptation.
Sadly, My Hero Academia’s main story has already wrapped up. In regard to the manga, My Hero Academia released its final chapter, chapter 430, on August 5, 2024. The anime didn't take too long to catch on. In December 2025, the My Hero Academia anime officially ended as it released its final episode of Season 8. Technically, the anime did make a brief return on two occasions this year.
On May 2, 2026, we received a new episode based on extra chapter 431 of the manga, titled “More.” Just a few months later, on August 3, 2026, another new episode was released, titled "I am a Hero Too," which adapted the extra chapter from the final guidebook focused on Eri. That, however, was truly the end of the franchise as things stand.
We've now received new information via Shueisha that My Hero Academia will be present as a major highlight of the next big anime and manga event, Jump Festa 2027. With the year coming to a close, Jump Festa 2027 is coming soon. This year, the event that started all the way back in 1999 is making its comeback on December 19 and December 20, and will be held in Chiba, Japan. Fans have high expectations for My Hero Academia. After all, during last year's Jump Festa, My Hero Academia released quite a few major projects, such as the new animated episodes that eventually aired in 2026.
My Hero Academia, despite having already ended, is going to take up major space at the upcoming Jump Festa 2027. It has been officially confirmed that My Hero Academia will be present at the biggest stage of the event, called the Super Stage. For context, the Super Stage is the highest tier at Jump Festa, featuring the biggest names in the industry, such as One Piece, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and, of course, My Hero Academia, and holds the biggest announcements.
There are lower tiers for smaller and mid-range series, or even bigger series with nothing major to announce. Those two other stages are Jump Studio and Jump Station. Jump Studio features Bleach and Kaiju Number 8, while Jump Station features Black Clover and High School Family. My Hero Academia being part of the biggest stage alongside other legendary manga is an incredible sign for what's to come. At Jump Festa 2026 last year, My Hero Academia was arguably the biggest highlight of the event. This year, while My Hero Academia could get outdone by major ongoing series like Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer, we still expect at least one big project.
