Until Dawn 2 made a surprise appearance at today's State of Play showcase with a new trailer that showed off plenty of new gameplay and a release date of January 27.
When rumours started flying that PlayStation was going to hold a State of Play showcase this month, it was a little tough to imagine what could be there. Intergalactic, God of War Laufey, and something unannounced from one of the big first-party studios seemed like decent bets, but there's not much else that jumps to mind since Sony's future lineup is pretty secretive right now.
One of the only other games that we know about is Until Dawn 2, which was revealed during the last State of Play a few months ago and quickly became one of the standouts of the whole event. That reveal trailer was pretty short overall, though, so the new look that debuted at today's State of Play was definitely appreciated.
As was suggested by a reliable insider before today's showcase, Until Dawn 2 did indeed show up at the State of Play. The new trailer showed us plenty of new footage from the game, confirming that it's not just set on the Japanese island that was featured in the initial reveal trailer.
Perhaps the biggest bit of news from the trailer, though, is a release date of January 28, 2027. That means we're really not that far from getting our hands on Until Dawn 2, which was only revealed a few months ago.
