A massive information leak appears to have pushed full achievement lists for upcoming and unannounced PC games, including Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts 4, onto the internet.
The lists were scraped and added to various websites, including SteamDB and achievement tracking website Exophase overnight. X3sphere, the owner of Exophase, told ResetEra they believed the leak was the result of a "possible screw up on Valve's end", after the Steam API seemingly gained access to achievement lists that should be private.
"I usually never see games without an actual name pop up with achievements," X3sphere continued, "yet over the past hour or so a bunch have (when there's an unknown name we just set it to the AppID)."
While the full scope of this apparent - and as yet unconfirmed - leak remains unclear, the number of games seemingly impacted or revealed is vast. It also means spoilers are rife. Reddit user KingdomHeartsII wrote up a list of the games that have been found so far, including more than a dozen that are yet to be announced at all.
Notable amongst the list are a Sea of Thieves "sequel/spin off", a Twin Peaks game, a Candy Crush game, a Sonic game, and a Shrek game. There was also a noted Balatro game, though Balatro's creator Localthunk issued a comment to PC Gamer stating that the game is: "not affiliated with me or Balatro at all. Plenty of people like to emulate the Balatro design language and that’s all this is." In addition, while Toem 2 is listed as unannounced, that game has very much been announced. This all to say, that list should be taken with a huge grain of salt, as should the veracity of the games that have been hoovered up by websites like X3Sphere.
It's worth noting that some of these achievement lists do include potential spoilers. So if, for example, you're a diehard Kingdom Hearts or Megaman fan, you probably shouldn't go and take a peek at the leaks if you want to go in without anything ruined ahead of time, just in case they are legitimate.
