Throughout your time with Lacra in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you'll keep finding evidence that Lacra is not supposed to interfere with whatever Brencis is doing. Instead, her job is to collect information. Yet, because of her history with him and Isbrand, Lacra is eager to stop Brencis, which may ultimately lead to her demise. If you choose to infiltrate Greifberg Castle with Lacra, Brencis will kill her during the fight, and there's nothing you can do about it at that moment.

On the other hand, there are multiple ways to save Lacra before attacking the Castle. You can save her directly by giving her the ability to survive Brencis's attack or by using alternative methods to ensure she's safe. In this guide, I'll go over both methods and explain how to save Lacra in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
There are two methods to save Lacra in The Blood of Dawnwalker:
Before initiating the Midnight Reckoning Quest to infiltrate the Castle, Lacra mentions she has an idea she wants to try before dealing with Brencis. You need to wait two days until she comes up with a plan before she shares her idea and starts the Night of Horrors Quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
In that Quest, Coen and Lacra go on a journey to find Kallias's lair and find a Mandrake, whose power they both absorb. That unlocks the Mandrake Ward perk in Coen's Vampirism skill tree, which restores his HP once per night when he takes lethal damage. Since they both absorb the Mandrake's power, Lacra gets the same effect.
Completing the Night of Horrors Quest before starting the Midnight Reckoning Quest ensures Lacra will survive her encounter with Brencis. The cutscene will play the same, with Brencis defeating Lacra, but this time, she'll recover her wounds because of the Mandrake's power. This will successfully and directly save Lacra if you choose to partner with her and defeat Brencis in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Make sure you have enough time segments before starting the Night of Horrors Quest. If you don't have enough time segments, the quest will be canceled, and Lacra will only have the option to start the Midnight Reckoning Quest without having the Mandrake powers.
