Another announcement shared by The Pokémon Company President Tsunekazu Ishihara at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships Closing Ceremony was for the new title, Pokémon Champions.
A new trailer revealed the free-to-play Switch eShop and mobile release will be getting Z Mega Evolutions and variety of other Pokémon. This update will be released on 9th September 2026 (JST).
The new Pokémon featured in the trailer include Rillaboom, Baxcalibur, Mega Lucario Z, Mega Absol Z, a teaser for Mega Heatran. Here's the official PR:
"Pokémon that can undergo Z Mega Evolution will make their debut in Pokémon Champions on September 9, 2026! Look forward to battling with Mega Lucario Z, Mega Garchomp Z, and Mega Absol Z. You’ll also see Rillaboom and Baxcalibur—two Pokémon that have made their mark in the Pokémon Championship Series. Mega Heatran was also revealed, so stay tuned for more details."
As part of the celebrations at this year's World Championships, there is some free content Pokémon Champions players can receive.
This includes a themed hat and t-shirt, which can be obtained with the code ENJ0YW0RLDS26. An Incineroar was also available as a reward via the official Twitch stream. You can find out more details about these rewards on Pokémon's website.
