Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will get story DLC focusing on Sephiroth and Vincent, director Naoki Hamaguchi has announced.
Following Thursday’s State of Play, Hamaguchi announced that the upcoming final part in the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy would receive story DLC.
“Following the announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, we received many requests from fans and media for DLC, and decided to make it happen,” he wrote on social media.
“Rather than announcing it after launch, we wanted to share our plans before the release of the main game. We’ll be telling the stories of Sephiroth and Vincent in greater depth. We hope you’re looking forward to it!”
Previously, Hamaguchi claimed that the ending of the third game would provide a definitive ending to the overall story, and that any DLC would have to focus on something other than the main narrative.
“I feel that, at this point, both the media and the fan community are expecting a DLC to come,” he said in an interview earlier this year. “Plus, I sense immense expectations for the Final Fantasy 7 franchise, or rather, it feels like fans don’t want it to end yet.
“That being said, things haven’t crystallized yet, so we can’t certainly say ‘okay, we’re going to make DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation ‘. However, if we get the support from fans, and if there’s genuine demand for it, I think we’d want to consider it.”
No release information or more details were provided for either story DLC expansion.
