You can now get rid of time limits thanks to The Blood of Dawnwalker mods, but it’s your infamy level that’s the real threat to completion.

The Blood of Dawnwalker has been out for less than a full day, and yet modders have already leapt into action to strip back one of its core components. At the heart of the new vampire RPG from Rebel Wolves is its 30-day time limit, which gradually ticks away as you complete objectives and learn skills. The threat of not having enough room to finish every single quest in the world has naturally scared players enough that some have taken it upon themselves to get rid of that pressure - but I'm here to reassure you that it's not so bad.

Rebel Wolves made a big deal out of the fact that you won't have enough time to finish everything in The Blood of Dawnwalker in a single playthrough, and that can certainly set off the FOMO (fear of missing out) alarm bells. The region of Vale Sangora is filled with incredible stories to discover, and a whole wealth of tasks that can grant gear and experience to make you stronger, so it can be tempting to want to see it all. In an attempt to put those nerves at ease, several mods have already surfaced with the purpose of lessening the worry that you won't get everything done that you want to.

The first of these is 'Better Story Timer' from 'Caites,' which increases the deadline you have to save your family to 90 days. It also has the ability to remove the time cost on leveling up certain skills and perks. There is an alternative version which instead extends the segments of days and nights from eight to 32, although they note this is "not fully tested" and so the 90-day solution is the safer option. An alternative, 'Infinite Time' by 'Tonykillerbee,' instead gives you a whopping 99,999 days to finish your mission.

Before I send you off to install these, however, I'd like to insert my own opinion, which is that the time pressure isn't nearly as bad as you might be imagining. Having explored the world for 60 hours to write my Dawnwalker review, I can tell you that I was able to spend all my skill points, finish all the major NPC questlines, and defeat all three members of Brencis's Court, and I still had a handful of days left on the timer when I went for the final encounter. Those segments go further than you'd think.

My first opportunity to push past a 'point of no return' and tackle the endgame appeared with 14 days remaining. I eventually finished the game for the first time with six days left, having reached level 40 (more than enough for a comfortable final battle). I did leave quite a few incidental Kobold Caves and Guard Outposts sitting on the map, and I didn't tidy up each of Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe's extra operations after I'd done enough to face them, but I also still had some time to spare.

Instead, I'd offer a different caveat that I think is a bigger potential hurdle to finishing everything you want to: Infamy. This meter can be seen on the 'Court' screen in the menu, and it increases as you disrupt the operations being run by Brencis and his trio of troublemakers. The higher it gets, the more difficult it will be to get things done, as soldiers start to recognize Coen in the streets. I won't give away exactly how it escalates, but I will say this: you'll probably want to finish all your business in the main town of Svartrau before you let it hit level seven, and certainly before it reaches rank nine.

All of which is to say that I'd greatly encourage you to trust in Rebel Wolves and keep the default time limit in place. With that said, the story The Blood of Dawnwalker tells is so good that if you feel like you need such a mod to enjoy playing it, then I'd agree that removing one element is a price worth paying, and you won't sacrifice too much of the experience in doing so. If you still want to ensure peace of mind, you can find the Better Story Timer mod here, or the even more extreme Infinite Time mod here.
