Metroid Dread Drops in Price for Nintendo Switch Following the Metroid Ravenous Reveal

The reveal of Metroid Ravenous has me wanting to replay Metroid Dread again, which is pretty convenient timing considering Nintendo has just knocked a decent chunk off the price of one of my favorite games of all time.

As part of Nintendo's Customer Appreciation Sale, Metroid Dread is currently $41.99, down from its usual $59.99. That's not quite the lowest price we've seen the Switch classic hit ($39), but an $18 saving is still pretty decent for such an incredible game.

And honestly, after seeing Ravenous in action, I think it's about time Nintendo gave Dread a proper Switch 2 update, as well.

Metroid Dread already looks and runs great on the original Switch, but we've now seen what Nintendo is capable of doing with Metroid on Switch 2. Ravenous looks fantastic (I've already preordered as well!), and it has me thinking about how good Dread could look with a little extra horsepower backing it up.

I'd love to see higher-resolution visuals, improved performance and perhaps some of the other enhancements we've seen Nintendo bring to its other Switch 2 upgrades.

Dread doesn't need a complete overhaul, but a proper Switch 2 Edition would definitely be another very welcome excuse to jump back into Samus' most recent, and my favorite, 2D adventure.

We awarded Metroid Dread a 9/10 in its review. Here's what IGN's Samual Claiborn had to say: "Metroid Dread gets so much right after so many years that I almost feel resentful that we didn’t get this game and a few sequels in some steady cadence starting in 2005."
