Frontier Developments has built sprawling theme parks, managed dinosaur outbreaks, and handed players control of entire zoos. Now, the studio is teaming up with Disney for its next major management game.
The British developer is best known for its range of creative management simulators, including the iconic Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, giving players detailed tools to design, build, and manage their own attractions.
Frontier is also the studio behind the Jurassic World Evolution franchise, which transforms the iconic movie series into a dinosaur park management simulator. Now, Frontier is adding another huge name to its portfolio – Disney.
In a new announcement, the developer confirmed it has entered into an agreement with Disney to develop and publish a game drawing from Disney’s extensive collection of intellectual property.
Frontier CEO Jo Cooke wrote: “We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises.”
He continued by adding: “Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”
While details on the game are sparse, the company did explain that it “will build upon the Company’s extensive experience and proven capabilities as a leader in the Creative Management Simulation genre,” so it’s likely to be closer to Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo than any of their other releases.
Given Frontier’s experience with Planet Coaster, the combination makes a full Disney theme park builder easy to imagine. Players could potentially design their own attractions using familiar Disney characters, locations, and rides.
