Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Review For Elden Ring On Switch 2

After being delayed to "allow time for performance adjustments", Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition finally arrived on the Switch 2 last month. So, was it worth the wait?

Digital Foundry has now taken a look and confirms the delay has been "immensely beneficial to the quality of the final release".

Digital Foundry: "It's a successful port that may not trouble the user with the higher-end visual experience enjoyed by other current-gen hardware, but you are broadly getting the PS4 feature set with improved frame-rates, higher resolutions on average, and much faster loading times - and, of course, you're getting a decent handheld experience too."

The Switch 2 version has no graphics mode toggle, meaning all visuals are "essentially set in stone from boot up".

In terms of resolution, in docked, you're looking at a dynamic 720p - 1080p range, while portable play runs between 432p - 864p. As for the frame rate, the Switch 2 version runs at a 40fps cap, but it's not "sustainable for any length of play" and "typical play rests much more often at 30-35fps in docked", with "portable performance in a similar ballpark".

Loading times are also a "highlight" on Switch 2, which proves to be significantly faster than its "last-gen rivals". You can find out more about the Switch 2 version in Digital Foundry's video and in our own review here on Nintendo Life:
