Square Enix has now confirmed a specific release date Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has also confirmed the return of popular features from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
The story of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will focus on the threats posed to the planet, like the oncoming Meteor. To counter these threats, Cloud and the main cast will travel aboard the Highwind, an airship capable of traveling across the planet at high speeds. The cast will see the addition of the cantankerous pilot Cid Highwind and the former Turk Vincent Valentine as playable characters. Like the rest of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation's cast, Cid and Vincent can use Synergy Moves with other characters and can equip FITS uniforms to change the flow of combat.
Fans eager to get their hands on Final Fantasy 7 Revelation now have a definitive date to prepare for. During the finale of the September 3 State of Play broadcast, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches on all current-gen platforms on April 8, 2027. Square Enix also confirmed that characters from the Final Fantasy 7 compilation will appear in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, with Cissnei returning from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. FF7 Revelation will also see popular features, such as Chocobo riding and the Queen's Blood card game from FF7 Rebirth, make a comeback in the upcoming entry.
The main threats of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation include both Sephiroth and the colossal Weapons that have appeared throughout the land. These Weapons include the iconic Ruby and Emerald Weapon, which were super bosses in the original release of Final Fantasy 7. However, the development team kept a tight lid on how each Weapon battle would play out. Square Enix also shared that, as players undertake missions in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, they may uncover more of each character's own backstory. For example, undertaking a mission with Cid or Vincent leading the party may offer a different experience than having Yuffie or Barret in charge.

Although Sony has doubled down on its controversial push toward digital exclusivity by 2028, a physical release of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will also be available at launch. Pre-orders for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation are now available on the Square Enix Store starting at $69.99 for the day one edition. Deluxe and Collector's Editions of FF7 Revelation are also available for pre-order, though quantities are limited. Due to the vast amount of content available in the upcoming title, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will require at least 130GB of storage space on Nintendo Switch 2. Ergo, players on other platforms should expect similar storage requirements.
The April launch of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be the bookend of a busy six-month window for the Final Fantasy franchise. Final Fantasy Resonance launches on October 22, which includes appearances from Cloud and Sephiroth as Visions for players to recruit. Additionally, Final Fantasy 14: Evercold, which launches in January, will include crossover content from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series.
