The Sad Tale of the Grossbart Brothers is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3 that begins in Blandare, east of Rannvaig. Here, you will come across a bounty hunter named Djenge Frett, who asks Geralt whether he knows anything about the Grossbart brothers.
Speaking with him starts the quest, which can play out differently depending on your previous encounters and the choices you make further in the quest. Here is how to complete The Sad Tale of the Grossbart Brothers quest and get a lot of Diagrams as a reward.
During your conversation with Djenge Frett, there are two ways the quest can begin, depending on whether you have already encountered the Grossbart brothers.
If you have already found and killed the Grossbart brothers during your travels, Geralt will tell Djenge that he needs to find a new bounty because the brothers have already been dealt with. Djenge will ask Geralt to show him where their bodies are located. Once Geralt informs him, you will receive 20 Crowns as a reward. However, this interaction will not start a quest.
If you have not encountered the brothers yet, Djenge will mention that he is heading south and suggest that they might meet again someday. Once the conversation ends, travel south to the Grotto, located east of Fyresdal.
Once you reach the Grotto, head inside and follow the path on the right to find Djenge Frett. Speak with him, and he will ask whether you want to work together to hunt down the Grossbart brothers.
If you refuse to help, Djenge will continue ahead and attempt to fight the brothers on his own. He will ultimately die, causing the quest to fail. Agree to work with him if you want to complete the quest.
After agreeing to help Djenge, head farther into the cave to find the three Grossbart brothers. Djenge will charge straight toward them, which can put him at risk of dying during the fight. If he dies, the quest will fail.
