Castlevania: Belmont's Curse might not be getting a native Switch 2 port, but that doesn't mean Switch 2 owners are stuck playing at 30fps.
As reported by Nintendo Everything, while the game is capped on the original Switch, it runs at a much smoother 60fps when played on Switch 2. Konami just launched a demo on the eShop if you want to give it a test run for yourself.
The demo includes the opening chapter, and progress will carry over if you buy the game.
You don't need to tinker with the console or change any settings to achieve this, either. 60fps is enabled by default, meaning that while there's only one version of Belmont's Curse, Switch 2 users are still getting the better experience.
Of course, Belmont's Curse is launching on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but as a side-scrolling 2D Metroidvania, it feels like a natural fit for Nintendo's handheld. And the Switch 2 is clearly the way to go.
Belmont's Curse launches on October 15, later this month, but if you can't wait that long, Konami is offering a Castlevania freebie for the franchise's 40th anniversary.
Right now, on iOS and Android, you can download the original NES game to keep. As Konami explained, "Players who download the game during this period will continue to be able to download and play it after the promotion has ended."
The promotion ends on October 24 at 9:59am EST, so there's plenty of time to grab a copy. The entire franchise is also currently on sale across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, with the Dominus Collection available for $12.49, the Advance Collection for $5.99, the Anniversary Collection for $3.99, Lords of Shadow — Ultimate Edition for $5.99, and Lords of Shadow 2 for $7.99.
