Toy Story: Retro Roundup is a collection of video games from the franchise's early days, plus A Bug's Life as a bonus throw-in.
While not everything here is particularly great, there are more than enough nostalgia punches and modern-day features to feel like you're getting your money's worth.
Starting with the original Toy Story game on Genesis/SNES, this has a lot of nostalgic charm for me from when I was very little. However, it's always been ridiculously hard, even 30 years later.
Luckily, with the inclusion of cheats, rewinds, save states, and the practice mode, you can now see everything it has to offer without being sent back to the menu.
A Bug's Life is a bit of a wildcard I never played before, but I rather enjoyed it. Running through this world on the DualSense feels very smooth, much like all of the other games in the collection. Definitely one to try if you never played it, regardless of it feeling like a random inclusion.
Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue for PS1 is one of the best 3D platformers of the 90s. The camera controls are hard to get used to today, but just about everything else is still enjoyable.
Being a toy in these large levels really makes this the jewel of the collection if you haven't bought it on the PS Store already.
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is easily the worst game in this collection, not including the Game Boy versions of all the titles. It probably feels better than its original PS1 version, but it still is rather wonky. If you're going to skip one, let it be this.
