Sales come and go, but permanent price drops are forever. It's something that doesn't happen all too often, especially for massive AAA titles, but that's precisely what's happened with DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Id Software has had a pretty hellish year, celebrating major expansions whilst mourning job cuts, and it seems they've decided to rip and tear a whopping chunk off the price of The Dark Ages. The game has permanently dropped from £69.99 / $69.99 to £44.99 / $49.99, representing a 35.72% decrease here in the UK, and a 28.58% reduction in the United States.
Same thing goes for the Deluxe Edition too, which has fallen to £60.99 / $69.99. You actually get an even bigger discount on top of all these prices if you're an Xbox Game Pass member as well.
Whilst it's not the lowest price we've seen attached to DOOM: The Dark Ages on Xbox, it's a hefty drop nonetheless. The cheapest we've seen it on the Xbox Store is £23.09 / $23.09, but like we said before, sales come and go, but this drop is permanent.
Whether you think this is a good deal or not is up to you, and like we did for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater when it too got a forever price drop, we'll leave a poll down below for those who own it (or have played it on Xbox Game Pass) to share their thoughts. Who knows, the results may be the clincher for you.
DOOM: The Dark Ages - Revelations — its first major expansion — launched earlier this year, and received universal acclaim on Metacritic with a score of 91. So, perhaps it's worth having a crack now the base game is cheaper!
Oh, and it's worth mentioning that DOOM: The Dark Ages is Xbox Play Anywhere supported too, so you can rock this on desktop, console, and on the go.
So, if you own it already, or have played it on XGP, what do you think of DOOM: The Dark Ages? Please tell us your thoughts in the poll and comments.
