While there aren't many customization options in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, players still get the chance to change Musashi's outfit and the appearances of his katana and wakizashi. Unlocking these new outfits is pretty straightforward too, as the game is pretty linear, and its open world area doesn't have many secrets in it. If you're interested in seeing what these cosmetic items look like in Onimusha, here's a gallery showcasing all of them.
This gallery is a work in progress, and it currently does not include the NG+/Carnage Mode outfits, Practice Grounds boss rewards, and 100% story completion rewards.
New clothes and costumes for Musashi's are unlocked by completing story missions (including ones from Lady Murasaki) and finishing all Boss Rematch fights. Keep in mind that some cosmetics will prevent you from wearing a haori. Completing the same challenges in Carnage mode unlocks even more clothing options.
New haori coats are unlocked by finishing the following story missions in Story/Action or Carnage Mode:
Since these missions are played in chronological order, you won't really have much of a choice when it comes to which haori you unlock first, so don't worry about missing out on any of them.
Unlike clothing and haori coats, katana skins in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are unlocked by collecting Lion Dogs, Lady Murasaki's precious pets who have found themselves in conundrums all across the various regions in the game. Thankfully, Lion Dogs are easy to reach, and their locations are marked on your map. There are 36 Lion Dogs in total, and you'll unlock new swords based on how many you've saved:
It's worth noting that all katanas in Onimusha: Way of the Sword are cosmetic only. They do not provide any practical benefits to combat, even the ones that look like they should be doing more than a normal tamahagane steel blade.
These are all the DLC cosmetics you can get from the Deluxe and Premium Kits for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Unfortunately, there are no unlockable skins for your gauntlet, Shizuka, or Okuni as of yet. You can claim your DLC items by visiting Spirit Mirrors.
