hSteam as a platform is no stranger to excellent indie releases, but some of the newest additions to the platform have been massively overshadowed by this month's stacked releases. From early releases like The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and the soon-to-be-released Control Resonant, it's a busy month for gaming as a whole.
Thankfully, these three indie titles not only stand out for their unique presentation, but also for being far cheaper than their Triple-A competitors, letting you easily knock out some spare time on the weekend for less than $20 each.
One game you probably haven't even heard of, but is definitely checking out, is The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline from One-O-One Games. From the same creators as The Suicide of Rachel Foster, Dante's Bloodline follows a descendant of Dante himself faced with performing a ritual that has been passed down in his family for generations.
Requiring you to delve into several layers of hell in order to complete the task, Dante's Bloodline offers a mix of supernatural puzzle solving and narrative exploration as you slowly piece together the dark history of your ancestors' pact and the sacrifices needed to keep it alive.
Having played it myself, I can personally attest to the memorable environments and story that will stick with you after the credits roll, with the only downside being the relatively short playtime that takes around 5 hours to beat. Thankfully, this also makes Dante's Bloodline a great game to knock out on a weekend afternoon, especially with the release sale knocking its price down from $20 to $17.99 until September 24.
Published by none other than Develer Digital themselves, Shroom and Gloom is an early-access roguelike deckbuilder with an incredibly unique art style, but the main gimmick that sets it apart from its predecessors is its unique first-person perspective.
Putting you right in the action with two decks you'll use to take down a litany of mushroom-based enemies and other monstrosities, Shroom And Gloom's dungeon-crawling gameplay loop has already received rave reviews from players despite being in early access, with fans highlighting its atmospheric visuals and well-executed deckbuilding mechanics.
While it doesn't have an ongoing launch sale like the other two games on this list, the $14.99 price tag is hard to beat given the replayability offered by its roguelike gameplay loop.
