For years, seemingly realistic and grounded military shooters have exponentially deviated from their design principals by crossing over with completely different franchises and celebrities, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 implementing rapper Nicki Minaj and Beavis and Butt-Head as operators in its multiplayer.
Due to the sheer immersion-breaking nature of these crossovers, many military shooter players expressed frustration and annoyance with such skins and events, leading to EA and Battlefield Studios pledging to keep Battlefield 6's multiplayer grounded in modern military realism akin to multiplayer depictions seen in older Battlefield titles.
However, a recent leak of Battlefield 6 suggests that EA and BS may soon go back on their word, as data miners have discovered unreleased skins based on the sci-fi survival horror franchise Dead Space, which notably takes place roughly 500 years in the future.
Despite EA not properly investing in the future of the series, Dead Space has long remained as one of EA's most popular original game franchises, with many of its entries often being considered to be some of the best survival horror games within the gaming medium.
Ever since Dead Space 1 launched in 2008, its protagonist, Isaac Clarke, and his iconic engineer armor have gone on to appear and cameo in numerous EA games and series, such as MySims, Dante's Inferno, Army of Two, Dragon Age II, Skate 3, and more, including the Battlefield series.
The first Dead Space appearance in a Battlefield game showed up in Battlefield 3's Aftermath DLC, with Isaac Clarke's Advanced Suit helmet from Dead Space 2 being found in a room on the map Epicenter.
DS' next few appearances in a Battlefield game can be found in Visceral Games, the studio that created the DS franchise, very own Battlefield Hardline, wherein people can find a Marker statue on the map Hollywood Heights, multiple Dead Space 3 helmets hidden on several multiplayer maps, and even a guard playing Dead Space 1 on Hardline's seventh campaign level.
