Naruto Uzumaki is the most important character in the Naruto franchise, including the Boruto series. In the Boruto era, we see Naruto Uzumaki as the Seventh Hokage of Konoha right at the very beginning. However, with the recent developments in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 36, this is officially changing. Naruto Uzumaki has been gone for 3 long years, which means Konoha needs a new 8th Hokage.
At the same time, Naruto Uzumaki also lost the powers of Kurama before he was eventually sealed, meaning that, upon his return, there is a need for the Seventh Hokage to gain a new power source. To that end, both Mikio Ikemoto and Masashi Kishimoto have lined up the perfect Kurama replacement for Naruto Uzumaki in the form of a potential Tailed Beast upgrade.
Naruto Uzumaki was shown with Kurama in the very first chapter of the Naruto series on September 21, 1999. From then, all the way up until the very end of this original story, Naruto held on to the power of Kurama and grew alongside him, forging a bond of friendship with him as well. However, in the Boruto era, Naruto and Kurama's relationship took a sad turn. In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapter 55, which was officially released on February 19, 2021, Naruto Uzumaki and Kurama parted ways. This happened after the use of Baryon Mode, a completely new form of power that Naruto Uzumaki tapped into in order to defeat Isshiki Otsutsuki.

This power led to Kurama's chakra completely running out and the death of the Tailed Beast. Naruto was left without any power, which eventually paved the way for his sealing in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations chapter 77. In this chapter, Kawaki decided to seal Naruto away to protect him from the threat of the Otsutsuki and, at the same time, to get rid of Boruto Uzumaki for good. Three years have passed since then, and Naruto remains sealed away, but with each passing arc, his return is getting closer.
In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Naruto Uzumaki has briefly appeared in a few panels inside Daikokuten. However, with each passing arc, his return is edging closer. In the post-Mamushi arc of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, which is set to continue this month on September 17, 2026, with the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 37, Sasuke Uchiha's return is getting even closer. Immediately after Sasuke's return, Naruto Uzumaki's return will be tackled as well. To fight in the current era, both Naruto and Sasuke need a significant strength upgrade, which is likely to come in one way or another. For Sasuke Uchiha, this strength upgrade was given to him during the timeskip, as confirmed with the release of Boruto Volume #8. At the same time, Sasuke is also set to receive an upgraded sword, thanks to Sumire's work on it to turn it into a scientific ninja tool.

Naruto Uzumaki, on the other hand, has not received any upgrade yet, but his next upgrade could very well end up being none other than Jura. As has already been established in the series, Jura is enamored with Naruto Uzumaki due to how he understands love. The primary reason for Jura's existence is to understand the true meaning of love, and to do that, he has to meet the Seventh Hokage. In one way or another, Jura intends to come face to face with Naruto. If he succeeds in that task, it is highly likely that, instead of consuming him, Jura and Naruto will connect on a much deeper level.
