Star Wars Zero Company has finally been released, so grab your blaster, arm your Thermal Detonators, and get ready to miss targets at point-blank range. In this tactical strategy game, players control a group of mercenaries during the tail end of the Clone Wars who are tasked with doing dirty, off-the-books jobs for the Republic.
During your journey, you'll come across a variety of characters, both integral to the story and random scoundrels you've hired to complete jobs. Many of these operators (including the main character Hawks) can have their appearance and outfits changed whenever you want. If you're looking to adjust how your hired operators work, here is how to change their appearance.
To unlock the ability to alter your physical appearance and clothing, you will need to first progress through the game's prologue until you are back at The Den. This is your home base, which will act as the central hub between missions where you can recruit new operators, buy items on the black market, converse with characters, and spread your influence throughout the galaxy.
Once you can run around The Den, make your way to where the Holo-Table is and turn to the right. Next to the merchant Neesh you will see a small control console with a clothing icon hovering above it. This is where you can customize both the player character and most of the operators you hire for Zero Company.
I say most because some of the key members of Zero Company, such as Trick or Jae, cannot have any part of their physical appearance changed. This means you cannot swap out any part of their face, but their actual clothing is mostly fair game. Some are a bit more limited than others, but you can dress up a majority of the story companions in different outfits. That being said, the player character and any operators you directly recruit through the hiring console can be completely altered.
While in the Customization screen, select which operator you want to alter at the bottom of the screen. At the top of the menu, you'll have three sub-tabs to choose from. The first is Profile, which determines your character's race, voice, mugshot, name, and background. All of these can be fully altered, so if you want to rename your operators or just change what race they are, this is where you go.
Notably, for operators that aren't the player character, you will have access to additional races to make your squadmates. These include Ovissian, Rodian, Weequay, and Neimoidian. However, you can turn your player character into an Ovissian or Weequay in New Game Plus. There are also way more voice options to choose when making an operator, so make sure to give them a listen when you have the time!
Tab number two is Appearance, which directly determines your operator's physical traits and characteristics. While you cannot sculpt their face as you would in some RPGs, you'll have several pre-made faces, hairstyles, etc. to pick from. There will also be alien-specific options, such as the horn type on a Devaronian. Droids can also be customized, but their options are a bit more limited based on what they are.
