The class system in WARDOGS lets players contribute to their team in any way they want without being forced into a specific playstyle or loadout. Nearly everything you do will reward you with XP for a specific class, and the higher your class' level, the more gear and tools you'll unlock.
This doesn't mean that you should just ignore the classes you don't want to play, though, especially since some of the best equipment in WARDOGS is locked behind class progression. Here's a quick overview of which classes you should be leveling up first, including important level breakpoints and previews of the most important pieces of kit you can get from each class.
To be clear, the Driver/Pilot roles are hyper-specialized and are reserved for players with specific preferences. If you mostly play as an infantryman, then you won't really get much benefit from leveling up the Driver and Pilot classes. However, if you want to run logistics and dominate the battlefield using heavily-armed vehicles, then you should absolutely focus on leveling these classes up the moment you start the game.
This is arguably the most versatile class in WARDOGS thanks to the sheer offensive and defensive utility it provides. While Support is mainly perceived as the base builder class, it is also the one that's primarily responsible for demolition and sabotage. If you're leaning heavily towards playing as an aggressive attacker, you should still level up Support before the Assault class so you can unlock explosives and anti-vehicle tools.
Unless things change in future versions of WARDOGS, every player should get their Support class to level 5 ASAP so they can get the C4/Detonator and RPG-7. These are the bare minimum tools you'll want to have when attacking FOBs or armored vehicles. If you really want to lean into the Support playstyle, you can expect to unlock the following later on:
All of these can be useful to any player, especially missile launchers and AT mines. The Grip Pod in particular is perfect for players who want to play an IAR/automatic rifleman role with extended magazines and magnified optics. If you do want to be a Support main, then you can look forward to building fortifications like the Stingray drone launcher using the large hammer.
Leveling up Support can be a pain since the only weapons that give them XP early on are shotguns, and LMGs are unwieldy without a bipod.
The Medic class has fewer essential unlocks than Support, but since you can heal and revive anyone with just basic bandages and free resuscitators, you're going to end up leveling this class up even without specialized tools.
