Metal Gear Solid is getting its own line of accessories and toys for cats, and the collection is arriving in October. Fans of Metal Gear Solid won't have long to acquire the collection, so they should prep in advance to pounce on the new offering.
Metal Gear Solid has been back in the limelight in recent months in anticipation of the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. The follow-up to 2023's Volume 1 will see the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, plus Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, which originally came out back in 2000.
Konami is teaming up with CatCon and releasing a new collection of accessories for cats based on the franchise. The collection includes plush toys, cat collars, and cardboard scratching boxes. The cardboard scratcher is based upon the pink Love Box from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, while an exclamation point plush toy themed on the in-game alert, and a two-level cat tree based on an in-game cylindrical drum can have also been teased. The items will be on sale at the Konami booth at CatCon, which will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center on October 10-11. Konami is also collaborating with One Eared Uno, a popular online cat celebrity, who will be in attendance.
While most of the collection will be limited to CatCon, those who can't attend aren't entirely out of luck. The cat scratchers based on Metal Gear Solid will be sold online via OKS GEAR across the same two days. However, those who are hoping to secure one will likely want to look as early as possible on October 10. Limited items like these, especially when connected to video games, tend to be in high demand and are often scooped up by ardent fans and scalpers alike, with only expensive listings on reseller sites left available after they're sold out. This new cat collection is also part of the promotional effort for the upcoming Konami release, with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2 launching on August 27.

So far, many fans of cats and Metal Gear are responding positively to the notion of the collection. Given that cats often have a fondness for cardboard boxes and scratchers, it's likely that they'll be popular with both gamers and their cats. While the games included in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 aren't new, fans are also expressing a lot of excitement and anticipation to be revisiting the games on modern-day consoles.
However, there has also been some trepidation expressed by some fans in the lead-up to Volume 2's release.
