A new horror game from Bloober Team, best known for the Silent Hill 2 Remake and Cronos: The New Dawn, has been revealed at the Nintendo Direct. It's called Onyx: The Dark Grip, and it's coming next year.
While a specific release window within 2027 has not yet been established, the game's reveal trailer does offer a peek at some interesting quirks. For one, the game features touchscreen and tilt mechanics that requires the game to be played in handheld mode, making this a scare you can take on the go.
Otherwise, the game places you in control of Holden, a man stuck in a town shrouded by fog after being "beckoned by a voice". While there, he'll have to uncover what's going on in this spooky locale, by either exploring sketchy looking places or reading the minds of other people he meets on his journey.
Bloober Team had announced they were working on a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and this reveal shows the studio's delving back into its smaller-scope development roots. In recent years, Bloober Team has had its hands full with larger scale games which have all been received rather well. The Silent Hill 2 Remake was of course a big hit, and Cronos seems to have gone down well too. Here's hoping Onyx shares a similar fate.
