October, we meet again. You slip through my bedroom window as a cold draft on a crisp morning, both making my covers more welcome and the long walk to the kitchen for coffee that much harder. Still, your arrival signals the end of a month stuffed with game releases and, for me, at least, a lot of weekends of travelling. So your arrival is not unwelcome.
Still, I will be spending this weekend trying to catch the last warm wisps of September before we're fully caught in autumn's chill. A bike ride is on the cards – though, potentially with a base layer under my jersey or the three-quarter length bib shorts to keep the hammies from cramping.
Enough about my bacon and eggs, this is what the rest of the team will be up to this weekend.
JamesReview NDAs mean I have another shift in the coyness mines, I'm afraid, though I'll share one small detail: it makes a clanging sound. Quite a lot of clanging sounds, in fact. I'm only an hour in but I'd say it's been around sixty percent clanging sounds thus far.
EdwinI'm not entirely sure what I'm playing this weekend but it may involve ass paddles and torpedo launch sequences, hopefully not at the same time.
JeremyThat Castlevania: Belmont's Curse demo out now is pretty good, and everyone should give it a go, especially if you liked Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which it reminds me a lot of. I'll probably be replaying it this weekend and/or purchasing other bundles of Castlevania games in the current Steam sale for Halloween. I've had a real hankering to playthrough the remake of Haunted Castle that was included in the Dominus Collection, particularly.
MarkI must remain shushed for now, but you'll certainly learn what's taking up my time this weekend soon. If I get any time outside of it, I'm keen to try out American Truck Sim's new road trip mode.
CallumIf I get time to jump into anything, I'll probably continue with Star Wars: Zero Company. While it's not quite the ultimate Star Wars XCOM game I always dreamed of, it's growing on me. I think mostly because I’ve formed a real power couple in my little Rodian sniper, Reebok, who speaks like a gruff geezer from down the pub, and my bright pink R2 unit, TOBi, who zooms around the battlefield firing combat stims at him. They keep trying to shove the main characters at me like, "Look, you can use a Jedi!" But I don’t think they understand that Reebok and TOBi could've single-handedly brought down the Galactic Empire if they were as canonically strong as my playstyle has made them.
