007 First Light’s first DLC, Extended Operations, is launching today and includes a bunch of new content, including weapons, outfits, photo mode, and much more.
When it comes to post-launch content and supporting a game well after its release, IO Interactive is one of the best in the business. It more than proved that with all three of the modern Hitman games and their lengthy roadmaps, so it came as no surprise when it promised to do the same with 007 First Light.
It’s been a good few months since the studio’s take on James Bond launched and, save for some hotfixes and updates, there’s not been too much to write home about. That all changes today with Extended Operations, a free DLC that’s just been shadowdropped and adds new weapons, outfits, and some highly requested features.
Earlier this week, IO Interactive teased that 007 First Light’s first DLC was nearly upon us, with more details coming today. As it turns out, though, the expansive free DLC, officially called Extended Operations, wasn’t just revealed, as it’s actually been shadowdropped and is available to download for all players now.
One of the big additions in the DLC is the Valhalla Protocol activity, which finally gives us a bit more time in the woefully underused Aston Martin that only appeared in one brief but awesome scene towards the end of the game. There’s also a new mission called Jungle Heist and two brand-new weapons to help you clear it.
As great as those are, though, perhaps the best feature to come in the update is the long-awaited Photo Mode, which was promised in a roadmap that was shared at launch. While it’s a bit annoying that it’s coming so late, you can at least easily replay the campaign now thanks to the newly added New Game Plus.
New Game Plus also finally lets you wear whatever outfit you want in story missions, which was an annoying restriction at launch.
Considering all of this content has just been added to the game completely for free, it's a rather generous bit of DLC that should make First Light much more replayable. It's certainly got me considering jumping back in to try out the Photo Mode and get some more Tac-Sim time in.
