Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution creators Frontier Developments have signed a deal with Disney to make a game based on one of Disney's many entertainment worlds. Some immediate possibilities occur. You know what Frontier have a lot of? Theme park and resort management games. You know what Disney also have a lot of? Theme parks and resorts. If the fruit of their union isn't Disneyland Park Creator or some variation thereof, I'll eat Mickey Mouse's big yellow buttons.
OK, there are some other possibilities: Disney also own Marvel, Star Wars, and the Simpsons, as per their imperial designs on every surviving flicker of the human imagination calculated to earn a dime. It's a little harder to picture how Frontier's style of management sim might apply to those fictions. I mean, they do also have themepark rides to their name, but those structures are nested inside various Disneylands. Still, perhaps Frontier could do an Avengers Tower Tycoon, or a Jabba's Rancor Arena, or a Moe's Bar Manager.
Whatever the new project is, it will continue "our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises,” as Frontier Developments CEO Jo Cooke comments in a press release.
Frontier are already known to be working on a new Planet game that, in an outrageous display of brand heresy, features neither zoos nor rollercoasters. It's slated for release in fiscal year 2028. Whatever Frontier are making for Disney will not be that game. Beyond that, we can only speculate. Suggestions from the comments on the older article include "Planet Morgue", "Planet Tractor" and "Planet Planet". You've all been eating your Weetabix, haven't you?
