Cai is a natural fit for a mobile, mixed-damage build in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. His Ornius classes let him stay active across the battlefield, while Diviner and Shaman give him the Black Magic training needed to make the most of Caladrius. That combination allows him to threaten enemies with physical weapons or magic, depending on which approach suits the encounter.
With a strong Ornius mount, Caladrius can remain Cai's main class even after Master Classes become available. Orichaldia is still worth pursuing for Fierce Spear, but mastering it does not mean abandoning the Ornius setup that has carried him through the game.

Start with Ornius Rider for his mounted physical role, but spend enough time in Diviner and then Shaman to develop Black Magic. Caladrius requires Rider D and Black Magic B, so the magic classes are preparation for Cai's main Advanced Class rather than a change of direction. Armored Ornius Rider keeps the mounted route going in the Specialty tier.
