One of the biggest benefits of Steam as a platform is its ability to support indie titles like No Rest for the Wicked, which has received plenty of acclaim for its development since it initially entered early access in 2024. While No Rest For The Wicked was initially planned to release in just a few more months in October 2026, the souls-like action RPG just got hit with a major delay.
Being capable of standing up against some of the best souls-like games out there despite its early access status, fans will still have plenty to look forward to when No Rest For The Wicked releases in 2027, with the exact time we can expect the new 1.0 release announced on the developer's official Moon Studios YouTube channel.
In the announcement, CEO and Creative Director of No Rest For The Wicked, Thomas Mahler, shared that the 1.0 and console release has now been delayed until March 2027, with no exact date on what time of the month it will be ready to ship.
While this does mean that fans will have to wait yet another 5 months before NRFTW is ready for its 1.0 update, the video did have a silver lining: a new open beta test dropping this December. Allowing players to get a sneak peek at some of the new content and features, like the upcoming class system; this will also be the last test version before the full release of NRFTW.
If you're wondering why the game was delayed in the first place, the CEO also shared that it was primarily to "help us improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish the whole game to the standard you all deserve."
Even though fans have generally understood the reasoning behind the delay and are simply happy that NRFTW is so close to release, even if it's just a bit further out of reach, there has still been some disappointment over how short notice the announcement was, considering how excited fans were to finally play the 1.0 update in just a few months.
Thankfully, there are still plenty of games similar to NRFTW to help scratch the same itch somewhat, combined with the fact that Moon Studios also announced everyone who purchased the game before January 1st, 2027 will receive some exclusive founders pack rewards as thanks for supporting them through early access.
PlayStation pre-orders open in January 2027, allowing the chance to earn the Founder’s rewards at that time.
