Well then, reviews are in for Star Wars Zero Company, and boy oh boy are they looking good!
Bit Reactor's tactical escapade brings that XCOM flavour to the Star Wars universe. Currently the turn-based adventure is rocking a very impressive 86 on Metacritic.
So, without any further ado, here's what the critics are saying about Star Wars Zero Company:
"Star Wars Zero Company absolutely blew my expectations out of the galaxy, and made me fall in love with the franchise again in a way that Disney hasn't been able to accomplish. XCOM traditions feature center stage atop a surprisingly gritty, cinematic story steeped in the galactic underbelly. Bit Reactor advances the genre like no other before it, proving turn-based tactics can comfortably succeed as "AAA." Star Wars Zero Company is an instant classic, a genre-essential, and one of this season's best games."
"Star Wars Zero Company is an excellent tactical game that does a fantastic job of slathering on the same cinematic look and feel we saw in Respawn's Star Wars Jedi games, incorporating strong characters and a storyline that's refreshingly centered on non-Force users and a non-traditional villain... It might not have the legendary level of replayability that's kept XCOM 2 in my rotation for a decade, but its lengthy story campaign is more than worth at least a couple of playthroughs before you can see everything and get the hang of its nuanced combat and synergies."
"After an eternity of modding XCOM into Star Wars, we finally have the tactics game from a galaxy far, far away that we deserve. Star Wars: Zero Company is an excellent addition to the saga that isn't scared of taking risks, and joins Andor and Rogue One in the pantheon of tales about high-risk covert operations, living up to the reputation of its peers. Occasional balancing and interface issues only keep a great game from being perfect, but when the blasters start singing, it all comes together."
"A new all-timer Star Wars game and a stunning debut for Bit Reactor."
"Ambitious, impressive, and addictive — Star Wars Zero Company is an utter blast from start to finish. There are a few technical hiccups to watch out for, and you can imagine some aspects of the game getting further fleshed out in a sequel, but what you have here is still one of the most delightfully involving tactics games on modern consoles."
